Do you think it is okay for teens to have gastric byp surgery?

my cousin is getting the prodecure done and i personally think it's okay beause it will help her with her self esteem problems and also because it will help her health to get better and she knows that she is going to have to live with this decison for the rest of her life and that she has to follow exactly wwhat the doctors tell her to.
