What is the best way to fight a false positive on a hair follicle test?

A friend was administered a hair follicle test in compliance with his probation. He is now at risk of losing his new job. He maintains that he has not used any drugs. He won't even take cold medicine or cough syrup. He does, however, use 5-hour energy shot fairly often. Could that cause a false positive result for meth?
