Do you know of any good books on South America?

I'm teaching English to a woman in her seventies. She's from Colombia and can speak very little English. When I was teaching her in the library, the librarians were putting up posters from different countries in South America and every time one was going up, I lost all of her attention. She was mesmerized. If there is a way to combine this interest of hers with something I can teach, it would be fantastic. Any advice is very appreciated!!
